Meals Program
Hale Mahaolu is concerned with the nutritional needs of our elderly and/or disabled residents. The Federal government and the County of Maui sponsor free lunch programs Monday through Friday. In addition, our Meals Program prepares lunches and dinners for home delivery at Akahi, Elua, and in the surrounding communities seven days a week, for a reasonable fee (based on a sliding fee scale). These meals are prepared in our large kitchen facility and are nutritious and well balanced, with low salt, low sugar, and low fat content. Diabetic meals are also available.
Who is eligible?
Participants must be 60 years or older. Kaunoa conducts an evaluation requiring a home visit of the applicant to determine eligibility requirements. Applicants will be selected on the basis of need for meals in order to help keep the applicant independent and out of institutions.
