Hale Mahaolu - Home of Pleasant Living

CHSP Program

What is the Congregate Housing Services Program?

It is a program designed to help Hale Mahaolu residents live as independently as possible and avoid improper or premature placement in a nursing or care home.

What will the program provide?

  • It will provide lunches and suppers seven days a week, including holidays.
  • It will provide housekeeping services if you are not now receiving them and unable to do your own housework.
  • It will assist participants in obtaining or making use of the help available in the community, such as transportation, Meals on Wheels, County nutrition program, Public Health Nursing, chore service, friendly visiting, etc.
  • Other personalized services that you may require, as appropriate and approved.

How much will it cost?

There is a reasonable fee for each meal, based on the participant’s annual income, with deductions allowed for medical expenses. The participants are also allowed an additional $400 deduction per year. Depending on the additional services you need, other fees may be charged.

How do I apply for services?

Applicants will be selected on the basis of need for meals, housekeeping, and other services that would help keep the applicant independent and out of institutions. If you feel you may be eligible for this program, you may apply by calling or going in person to the manager’s office, or you may have someone inquire for you.
